ECAD system analysis and evaluation of alternatives
Our customer uses a comprehensive Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) solution from a third-party manufacturer for the development and maintenance of electronic assemblies. The customer wanted a status report on the performance of the current ECAD system to determine if it still meets the necessary requirements and simultaneously identify other alternatives on the market which may be less expensive. konplan accomplished this task as an independent, external partner.
Methodical analysis and alternative system evaluation
The analysis started by identifying the stakeholders and conducting structured interviews with them. This information was used by the team to define the stakeholder and system requirements for the current system analysis and the alternative system evaluation. A market analysis identified the alternative systems available, and then narrowed them down using technical and cost-utility analysis. To ensure an objective evaluation, three alternative systems were thoroughly and consistently tested for three days each in a practical environment. In addition, the experts used a migration scenario template to determine the setup, migration, and operating costs as well as the amortization costs.
Objective report provides a good foundation for decisions
The customer received regular status reports from the project employees to keep them informed. The final report was presented to the customer and provided a comprehensive and understandable foundation for making the next decisions.
